COMMUNITY News
RESPECT YOUR COMMUNITY,
KEEP YOUR DOG ON A LEASH AND PICK UP THE POOP!
Dogs must be kept on a leash at all times except when in a designated off-leash park.
WHY? IT’S THE LAW!
Dog owners/walkers can be subject to a $365 fine.
The dog may also be seized and impounded.
For many of our residents in our growing community, dogs are great companions. However, it is important to understand that not everyone is comfortable with dogs no matter how friendly yours may be.
Residents have had dangerous and threatening experiences with aggressive off-leash dogs in Jean Augustine Park.
There have also been incidents of coyotes snatching small off-leash dogs.
Jean Augustine Park, Humber Parks East and West, as well as the pathways/parks along the waterfront, ARE NOT off-leash areas. There is a designated off-leash park in Humber Bay Park West at the S/W end of the park and another just east of the Humber river called Sir Casimir Gzowski Dog Park.
By-Law officers will be visiting Humber Bay Shores area more frequently and throughout the summer.
PICK UP YOUR DOG’S POOP!
Failure to clean up after your dog carries a $240 fine for dog owners/walkers.
By not picking up after your dog, you are putting other people’s pets at risk for exposure to harmful bacteria, parasites, viruses and fungi.
Harmful waste remains in the soil for quite a long time and can be transmitted to other dogs and human beings. There are many children playing in the parks who can be exposed to this waste.
Please dispose pet waste in black bins or green bins and NEVER in the blue bins.
KEEP YOUR DOG ON A LEASH
THANK YOU TO OUR NEIGHBOURS WHO OBEY THE LAWS. BE A GOOD NEIGHBOUR, OBEY THE LAWS AND DO YOUR PART TO KEEP OUR COMMUNITY SAFE AND CLEAN.
