 • Bell Boxes artwork project along the pathway and Lake Shore Blvd. West completed.
• Publishing the Humber Happenings magazine.
• Presentations to new condominium Boards in the
community inviting them to join HBSCA.
• Ongoing engagement with the Master Traffic Plan
consultants regarding Park Lawn and Lake Shore Blvd.
We will continue working with Councillor Grimes and Toronto Police regarding the issues and concerns in the Humber Bay Shores parks expressed by the residents in our community. Membership strengthens the position of individual condo- miniums in formulating HBSCA views on projects and formulating community initiatives.
We recognize that each condominium in our HBS community can be affected differently by projects and initiatives. It is impor- tant that HBSCA membership is representative of our entire community. Planned changes to the Humber Bay Shores com- munity will spread existing densities over a larger area compounding existing concerns. These include, but are not restricted to:
• Proposed 13 storey boutique hotel at Lake Shore and
Silver Moon.
• Proposed 59 storey condominium on the recently sold Esso
property on the SE corner of Lake Shore/Park Lawn.
Future development effects a range of shared concerns of our HBS community:
• Traffic congestion,
• 25 more years of continuous construction impacts,
• Electricity grid impacts,
• Potable water supply issues,
• Sewage treatment capacity,
• Stormwater management.
CONSTRUCTION UPDATE #59
Crews will begin the following planned work on Roncesvalles Avenue (Queen Street West to Harvard Avenue):
• Replacement of the 100-year-old + watermain on the west
side of Roncesvalles Avenue
• Re-lining of existing sewers
• Reconstruction of the road
• Replacement of TTC track and installation overhead wiring
• Installation of streetcar platforms (bump-outs) on Ronces-
valles Avenue. Further details on this will be provided in next week’s email update
By bundling all this work and completing it in one shot, the city is seeking to lessen the likelihood of having to return in the near future and disrupt residents and businesses with more construction. In addition, by replacing and/or extending the life cycle of aging infrastructure, as per the current plan, future costly and impactful watermain breaks, can be avoided. Stage 3 is expected to be completed by late December 2022. HH
Have A Great Holiday Season!
