   GRAND OPENING IN
HUMBER BAY SHORES

The sign on our windows have long indicated we’re open. It’s a pleasure to share now that we’re not only open, but we’re also looking our best. Construc- tion of our first 22,000 square feet was finished January 17, 2023. Two days later families, alumni, donors and others gath- ered to celebrate the realization of a dream. None had seen a high school like this before. You can visit our new website at kcs.on.ca/academics/senior-school to enjoy and see inside.
This special neighbourhood and our beautiful space match the distinct
activity happening within. Rest assured, there’s the usual — homework, exams and even the iconic frog dissection lab take place here. KCS has always been committed to delivering strong aca- demics and that continues here. KCS has also always been committed to pushing boundaries where it should. Here are five ways in which we’re doing it at the Senior School:
LEARNING PARTNERS | Our students regularly connect with external experts in their courses and co-curriculars. So far
this year they’ve met over fifty in mechanical engineering, environmental science, academia, architecture, anima- tion, social justice, entrepreneurship, politics, primatology and more, whether 1:1, in small groups, whole classes or whole school.
PLACE-BASED LEARNING | Our students are learning about the world by being in it. Our Grade 9s donned hip waders, walked into Lake Ontario, and engaged in water testing with Swim, Drink, Fish, adding results to a national database as
