PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
   COMMUNITY MATTERS
BY JIM REEKIE, HBSCA PRESIDENT Greetings to our HBS community,
I would like to start by thanking our past Councillor, Mark Grimes, for all the hard work he has contributed to Humber Bay Shores over the past nineteen years. I would like to share with you some of the numerous achievements and projects accom- plished by Mark and his team that significantly improved our community:
• New Go Stop for Humber Bay Shores.
• 145 Express Bus Service for Humber Bay to downtown
Toronto.
• Bus service to the Mimico Go Station.
• Master Traffic Plan for Park Lawn and Lake Shore Blvd.
• Legion Road Extension.
• Supporting the Farmers Market and Waterfront Festival
start-up with City Staff.
On behalf of the HBSCA and the community, we thank you for all your effort and for making our community a great place to live, work and play.
HBSCA EVENTS FOR 2023
The Annual Cleanup is scheduled for Saturday, April 22nd, so come on out and help keep your community clean.
The Farmer’s Market is returning on Saturday, May 27th. We are very excited to announce that we will have more new ven- dors to add to our fantastic roster.
The Waterfront Festival will be back on Marine Parade Drive on Saturday, August 12th, and, as always, we promise a good time for the whole family.
The Annual Golf Tournament will be held on Thursday, August 17th, it will be a great day to have fun with friends.
Please remember to participate in these community events. It’s a great way to have fun while supporting our great community.
PROJECTS & INITIATIVES
Our Association (HBSCA) has been very busy with several proj- ects and initiatives. Some of these have already started and will continue into this year, with more starting in 2023-2024.
Below you will see an updated list of the projects and initia- tives that the HBSCA continues to work hard to complete.
The Humber Bay Shores Condominium Association (HBSCA) engages with a range of stakeholders on projects and initiatives that affect our community. We provide input, which we believe represents what is in the best interest of our Humber Bay Shores Community.
Projects:
• Jade Park facing Marine Parade Drive to be completed in the spring of 2023.
• Humber Bay Park East project ongoing, should be completed in 2024.
• Humber Bay Park West shoreline, TRCA to start in spring of 2023.
• Road construction updates affecting HBS, such as the King, Queen, Queensway and Roncesvalles project, information at toronto.ca/KQQR, see construction update on next page.
Initiatives:
• Annual Farmers’ Market 2023: obtaining permits, con- tacting farmers and vendors, setting up safety protocols for the Market.
• Annual Waterfront Festival: obtaining permits, contacting vendors, entertainers, safety protocols for the festival.
• Clean-up of scrub, bushes and trees south of the pathway along Marine Parade Drive.
• Publishing the Humber Happenings Magazine.
